2. Technology Stack Overview As illustrated in the figure below, the technology stack providing the foundation for the work described in this paper has many components. The user interface layer utilizes MS Internet Explorer as the client, which eliminates the need for client side installs and the associated maintenance. At the web/application server level, Siebel Analytics in a stand-alone implementation is running on Windows 2003 Server with IIS 6 and the .Net Framework 1.1. MS SQL Server 2000 provides the DBMS layer running on Windows 2003 Server. The data refresh process implemented in the example below is controlled by a MS SQL Server Data Transformation Services (DTS) package. The package is scheduled to run nightly to refresh the local analytics database from the multiple source systems. The architecture leveraging Siebel Analytics on top of Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, application and database software provides a solid foundation for the rapid prototyping, development and iterative release process implemented herein by the project team throughout the SEF Dashboard work effort.
