INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. CHEVROLET V8 265-454 HEI PART NO. 8548201/8548210C OLD DISTRIBUTOR REMOVAL STEP 1Disconnect all wire connections at the distributor cap.Locate the spark plug wire on the original distributor capthat is used to set engine timing. See service manual forthis location. Mark the distributor cap and distributor housing at this spark plug wire position. STEP 2Turn the engine crankshaft in the direction of rotation until the timing mark lines up with the top dead center(TDC) mark on the timing tab. See service manual for these locations. STEP 3Remove the distributor cap from the distributor. Do notremove the spark plug wires at this time. Make sure therotor blade points to the mark on the distributor housing(from Step 1). If it does not, repeat Step 2 until the timingmark lines up (again) with the TDC mark on the timing tab. NOTE: Once you are finished with Step 3, DO NOT turnthe crankshaft until the new distributor is installed.
